Favourite books in 2016

Hi Beauties,
Happy New Year! Hope you're all enjoying 2017 so far. It's going to be an interesting year and I can't wait to see it play out.
2016 was a crazy year for me and I'm so glad it's come to an end. It was, however, the year I got back into my love of reading. A massive highlight for me during 2016 was being sent books to review and I hope to continue doing this more in 2017.  I read 46 books during the year and I absolutely loved them. (Well, most of them. There were a couple disappointments).

Surprisingly, it was an easy choice when it came to choosing my favourite books of the year. There were six standouts that I wanted to share with you today. I know you will enjoy them as much as I did.

1. We Were on a Break - Lindsey Kelk: I've said this many times, but, Lindsey Kelk is my favourite author, ever. For a laugh-out-loud, easy read, I really recommend We Were on a Break.

2. #GIRLBOSS - Sophia Amoruso: This book changed my life. 2016 was the year I really stopped feeling guilty for being a strong and opinionated woman. I am a #GIRLBOSS and I'm going to continue to work hard and achieve all my goals, no matter what.

3. The Single Girls To Do List - Lindsey Kelk: Suprise! Another Lindsey Kelk book! I love being single and this book really hit home for me. Rachel creates a to-do list after her boyfriend of seven years breaks up with her. Things on the list include; getting a makeover, write a letter to your ex, travel somewhere you've never been before, break the law, etc. If you're after a book to read at the beach, this is the one for you.

4. Scrappy Little Nobody - Anna Kendrick: I don't know how many times I have said this, but I loved, loved, loved this book so much. Anna's humour translates so well in the book and I loved reading about her early days as an actress before she 'made it'.

5. Talking As Fast As I Can - Lauren Graham: I bet you guessed this would be on here! I've talked about this so much I hope you have all gone out and bought yourself a copy! If not, don't forget I'm giving one away on my Facebook page..

6. Wildflower - Drew Barrymore: One of the first books I read in 2016, Wildflower was one of the best memoirs I read. Drew writes a series of essays touching on various points in her life, ranging from living on her own for the first time to her first encounters with Steven Spielberg, Adam Sandler and Cameron Diaz. One of my most favourite chapters was when she talks about her first dog, Flossy. When Flossy passed away, Drew bought a plane ticket to India and scattered some of Flossy’s ashes at Gandhi’s house in New Delhi, by a Buddhist monastery up in the Himalayas, and on a quiet path in the countryside by the Ganges River. “Flossy was my first girl,” she writes. “And the love I felt for her is one of the best gifts I have ever known.”

I'd love to hear what your favourite books of 2016 were! Happy reading!
xxx Hayley
